UPPER WEST SIDE, MANHATTAN, NY

A two-section apartment living space—which the original architecture meant to be a dining room and living room—are re-considered as a unified space. With re-arrangement of the piano and addition of a small secondary table with seating, the room functions well.  Color and pattern are carefully chosen to visually create cohesion.  A selection of vivid graphic fabric patterns on the swivel chairs, sofa cushions, and the new neutral color, oriental patterned rug, balances the strong color and pattern of the existing antique oriental rug, which was relocated to sit under the piano on the opposite side of the room.
